MY COMPANY

I am involved in various Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), and as well as a partner to our Corporate Responsibility Team, who actively works to strengthen our company culture through DEI initiatives.

Co-champion of the Sustainability at Veritas Empowered (SAVE), ERG

Timeframe: 2017 – Present
Responsibilities: Collaborate with my partner to create events and develop initiatives to drive awareness on sustainable practices and our environmental footprint for our community
Moments that make me smile:

  • Organized a presentation to have Bea Johnson talk to the community to share her zero waste lifestyle
  • For Earth Day 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, collaborate with Corporate Responsibility for our Redeem a Tree campaign where employees who filled out a survey got a tree planted on their behalf. Over the course we had thousands of trees planted
  • Created two volunteering event with Our City Forest where we planted trees in a community in San Jose and volunteered in their tree nursery. 20+ employees came to help in the nursery!

  • Organized and led virtual happy hours to watch videos on sustainability and climate change as well as have discussions on them.
  • Partnered with the Factory Farming Awareness Coalition and had Monica Chen, the Executive Director, lead a virtual chocolate dessert cooking demo and discussion on how we can be more compassionate through our food choices.
  • Planning initiatives for 2021 Earth Day.

Co-champion of the Black Employees at Veritas Empowered (BLEVE), ERG

Timeframe: 2020 – Present
Responsibilities: Collaborate with my partner to create events and develop initiatives to support Black employees, further diversity and spread awareness on influential Black people or events in history
Moments that make me smile:

  • Organized and led the initiative to create a video for MLK Day. I reached out to various leaders in the company to share what Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. means to them. The video is extraordinary, so powerful, so moving!! One of the most rewarding feedback shared from the video was “This is the best video that I have seen us release.” Here is a sneak peak… view the full video here
  • Collaborating on Black History month activities for 2021 (book club on Kindred by Octavia E. Butler, town hall on unconscious bias, creating a mentorship program, blog series),
  • I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to participate in a blog series, for Black History Month alongside three of my powerhouse teammates, friends, and Co-Champions of the BLEVE.

Moments that make me smile:

  • I initiated, and advocated for employees to include their pronouns in their Workday profile and email signature.
    • I worked with the Corporate Responsibility leaders to make this happen and in December 2020 I co-wrote a blog that was published internally on the importance of sharing your pronouns.
  • Was on the organizing committee to plan our involvement in the 2018 San Fransisco Pride Parade.

Tree Amigo for Our City Forest

Timeframe: 2020 – Present
Responsibilities: I attended the tree amigo training sessions to learn about the importance of tree care. I share what I have learned with others and continue to advocate for our environment.

Virtual Camp Counselor for Smart Buddies

Timeframe: June 2020 – August 2020
Responsibilities: I participated in a virtual STEM Camp for children, ages 7-11, where I led fun and engaging discussions with a group of campers based on art, STEM, technology, careers, coding using their Smart Buddy, etc.

Member of the Pace GOLD (Graduate of the Last Decade) Committee

Timeframe: 2021 – Present
Responsibilities: Collaborate with about six of my fellow GOLD members to brainstorm initiatives to engage Pace University graduates of the last decade.

THE WORLD

I find it empowering to look for opportunities to expand my growth, perspective, and horizons by understanding different societal issues, systemic issues that happen. I value mentorship and sharing what I learn as well as learning from incredible, inspiring people in the world.

TechWomen Professional Mentor in the 2019 TechWomen Program

The TechWomen Program creates and fosters a sisterhood, a community of women—in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)—all over the globe with a common goal of empowering, connecting, and supporting one another. The TechWomen Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Timeframe: September – November 2019
Responsibilities: I was a TechWomen Professional Mentor in the 2019 TechWomen Program. I had the distinct privilege alongside seven of my colleagues, representing IT, engineering, legal, UX, marketing, and HR departments, we mentored three incredible, powerhouse Emerging Leaders (ELs): Salma from Morocco, Nobukhosi from South. Africa, and Mais from Jordan.

TechWomen Professional Mentor in the 2021 TechWomen Program

The TechWomen Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Responsibilities: I will be mentoring Ayesha from Pakistan alongside my colleague in this years virtual mentorship experience.
